'Britannic Variants' wurde von der 'East Mecklenburg H.S. Symphonic Band' in Auftrag gegeben. Die Arbeit wurde Herrn Michael A. Soltys für seine 25-jährige Tätigkeit mit den Mecklenburg Bandstudenten, gewidmet.
Diese Komposition verwendet zwei wenig bekannte englische folk-songs ('Salisbury Plain' und 'The Miller of Dee').
An impressive and engaging work, 'Britannic Variants' is reminiscent of the classic wind band style of Holst, Vaughn-Williams, and Grainger by using British folk tunes as its basis. Equally important is Del Borgo's musical craftsmanship and orchestration. |
