Otros detalles/contenidos	Während des akademischen Jahres 1960-61 war Richard Lane (1933-2004) in Lexington, KY, USA. Er hatte von der Ford Stiftung ein Stipendium erhalten als Composer in Residence an der Henry Clay High School - eine öffentliche Volksschule in Lexington. Ich war damals 'senior studen' und Cellistin im Henry Clay Orchestra unter der Leitung von Joe Beach. Wir waren ein zwölfköpfiges Celloregister und das muss den jungen Richard Lane zu dieser Elegy animiert haben. Unser Cello-Ensemble spielte die Uraufführung im Frühling 1961 während der 'Music Educators National Conference' (seit 2012 umbenannt als: 'National Association for Music Education'), in Asheville, NC. Viele Jahre später, als ich mit meinem jungen, auch zwölköpfigen Cello-Ensemble an der Blair School of Music / Vanderbilt University (in Nashville) arbeitete, erinnerte ich mich an die Elegy. Ich schrieb Richard Lane und er schickte mir freundlicherweise eine handgeschriebene Kopie der Partitur und der Stimmen. Mein Cellosensemble hatte grosse Freude an diesem Werk und spielte es während einer Deutschlandtournée anno 2004, dem Jahr in dem Richard Lane verstarb. Anne P. During the academic year 1960-61 Richard Lane (1933-2004) was in Lexington, KY, USA.  He had received a grant from the Ford Foundation to serve as a resident composer at Henry Clay High School - a public high school in Lexington.  I was a senior that year and a cellist in the Henry Clay Orchestra directed by Joe Beach. We had a large cello section numbering 12 which must have inspired the young Richard Lane to write the Elegy. Our cello section gave the first performance of it in Spring, 1961 at the Music Educators National Conference (since 2012 with new name: 'National Association for Music Education') convention in Asheville, NC.  Many years later the Elegy surfaced in my memory as I was working with my young Cello Choir at The Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University (Nashville) - which numbered 12 cellists. I wrote to Richard Lane and he so graciously sent me a hand written score and parts to the Elegy.  My Cello Choir enjoyed learning it and performed it on our tour to Germany in 2004, the year Richard Lane passed away. Notre registre de violoncelles créa l'oeuvre au printemps 1961 à l'occasion de la Conférence National des Enseignants Musiciens qui s'est tenue à Asheville, NC, USA. Bien des années plus tard cette Elegy ressurgit dans ma mémoire alors que je travaillais avec mon jeune ensemble de violoncelles à la Blair School of Music de l'Université Vanderbilt à Nashville, également constitué de 12 instrumentistes. J'écrivis à Richard Lane qui m'envoya gracieusesment une copie manuscrite de la partition et les parties instrumentales de l'Elegy. Mon ensemble de violoncelle a eu beaucoup de plaisir à travailler l'oeuvre et l'a jouée durant notre tournée de concerts de 2004 en Allemangne, l'année du décès de Richard Lane. Anne P.
